Today (29 June) is the UK’s third Employability Day – a day of celebration for organisations helping jobseekers to gain and progress in work.
The Growth Company and hundreds of other organisations across the country are taking part to demonstrate their hard work supporting people into employment.
Since January alone, our Employment team has helped 6702 people into work. Daniel Buckley is one jobseeker that The Growth Company has helped into work through the Skills for Employment programme, which supports 2 people every day into work.
22-year old Manchester local, Daniel was first referred to The Growth Company’s Skills for Employment programme in September 2017. He was struggling with anxiety, depression and ill mental health.
Working with his Learning Mentor Daniel focused on improving his motivation and confidence before accessing a range of support, such as communication skills, interview techniques and CV support. With steady one-to-one appointments, Daniel flourished and eventually developed his self-confidence enough to undertake an 8-week work placement which led to a full-time position as an Administration and Compliance Offer.
Commenting on his experience, Daniel said: “I’m so thankful to everyone who helped me in Skills for Employment, I don’t think I could have enacted this positive change on my own.”
The Growth Company and thousands of other organisations help transform the lives of jobseekers and their communities in their local area. UK Employability Day is a crucial day of recognition for the employment support sector and underlines the critical work of providers.
Said Michelle Leeson, Acting Managing Director, Growth Company Employment: “At the Growth Company, we are delighted to support Employability Day. Our customers are at the heart of our delivery and personally, I’m really proud that we’ve been able to support over 6,700 customers into employment since January this year.”
