Course Overview

This course develops the skills and knowledge to become a highly competent and skilled general builder. 

The Level 2 Diploma in Maintenance Operations provides a range of practical experience in a number of construction disciplines including;

  • Health & Safety   
  • Basic Joinery skills
  • Repairing, Replacing and Renewing Gates, Posts and Fencing
  • Replacing Glazing to Windows and Doors
  • Painting & Decorating (paint and wall coverings)
  • Basic Tiling skills
  • Installing Basic Plumbing
  • Laying Domestic Drainage
  • Basic Plastering skills
  • Maintaining Slate and Tile Roofing structures

You will also study towards your Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 1 – if required.

You will gain technical knowledge and practical skills whilst on the course.  You will need to demonstrate that you can apply these new skills and knowledge effectively and you will be assessed during practical assignments, unit end tests and online tests. 

Once you have completed the course you will need to gain experience applying your new learning on site.

Once you are able to gain this experience you could be assessed against the NVQ so that you can gain the full Maintenance Operations qualification.   

There are opportunities to progress on to a full Level 2 Apprenticeship once employment within the industry has been gained.   

Qualifications required are: 

  • Successfully pass the CITB trade assessment
  • Successfully pass the Recruitment interview
  • GCSE’s grades A-C in Maths and English ideal but not essential.
