There are great opportunities for getting training at work. This will not only help you get more out of your job, but it will also help you to think about moving forward, either in the job you have, or in a new career.

Ask at work

There might be training already in place where you work: ask your supervisor or union rep about this, to find out what's available. If you work for a big company, you might be able to get time off for training, through the government's Time to Train scheme.

National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs)

NVQs are competency-based qualifications - this means they offer proof that you can do a job. NVQs are available in lots of different jobs, from administration to animal care. Many employers allow their staff to study for NVQs in work time. They're available in levels 1 to 5 so you can start at a level suitable for you and work your way up.
