To paraphrase one of Greater Manchester’s most famous sons, Tony Wilson, we do things differently in Greater Manchester. In 2014, with devolution, we saw the launch of the Working Well family of programmes in GM. Working Well revolutionised the incumbent employment programme models and created an intensive key worker model slashing case load sizes and creating a personalised support service which was truly integrated into local services and provisions.

As the programmes have developed, the key worker has remained the golden thread for participants on the Working Well programmes, working closely with participants to tailor the package of support offered to meet their needs as well as bringing in specialist support as the most appropriate point in their journey.

Support for participants ranges from making sure they understand how work can increase their financial stability through to one to one support from a health professional and exclusive vacancies with employers who understand the talent our participants have despite some of the barriers they face.

Greater Manchester is growing and we are passionate about ensuing that the growth is inclusive to all and this passion is what drives those working on Working Well to create opportunities for those participants that we work with and we can only do that thanks to the support of our key partners and employers who are willing to adopt a different outlook to their workforce and recruitment strategies.
