Congratulations — you are starting a new job. When starting work after a break, especially a long one, you might feel a bit nervous. You might be worried about what's expected of you, or if you are doing all right. Your employer should make everything clear to you, and support you as you begin your new working life. There are some points you should be aware of, too.
Your employer might want you to bring proof of your identity, such as a passport, when you start work. The company might also carry out other checks, such as getting in touch with the references you gave. For some jobs, you might need a medical examination; your employer should tell you about this before you start the job.
If you are from another country, your employer might also need evidence that you have the right to work in the UK.
