  • A new Pathways to Work (Trailblazer) service is launching in Rotherham to help residents move closer to employment.
  • The programme will offer personalised one‑to‑one support, training links, and help for people with health conditions.
  • Delivered by the Growth Company, the initiative forms part of a regional effort to reduce economic inactivity across South Yorkshire.

The Growth Company is set to deliver employment support in Rotherham on behalf of the Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.

Pathways to Work (Trailblazer) is a new programme designed to tackle high rates of economic inactivity and boost employment.

It aims to help people find, stay in, or return to work, with specific support available for those with health conditions.

South Yorkshire is one of nine regions or ‘trailblazers’ to receive funding to deliver Pathways to Work. The Growth Company also delivers the programme in Sheffield on behalf of Sheffield City Council.

The service offers personalised support to help Rotherham residents move closer to employment. It provides tailored one‑to‑one job search assistance, helping people to explore opportunities that match their skills and aspirations.

Participants can also access support with writing or improving their CV, preparing for interviews, and completing job applications.

Pathways to Work connects people with relevant training and courses, builds confidence and motivation, and supports the development of essential digital skills.

For those entering employment, in‑work support is available to help ensure a smooth transition, while links to local employers and vacancies create further opportunities.

Support is available to residents who are economically inactive, aged 16 or over, living in Rotherham, and who have the right to live and work in the UK. The Growth Company’s teams are also specialists when it comes to providing targeted support for refugees and migrants.

In addition, key workers can work with unemployed residents – such as those claiming Universal Credit or Jobseekers Allowance through the Jobcentre – who may be at risk of social exclusion and would benefit from personalised, community‑based support.

Kate Liddle, service manager at the Growth Company, said: "We’re proud to be expanding our specialist provision in Rotherham, helping more individuals move towards sustainable employment.

"It’s especially exciting to welcome two new Employment Advisors with lived experience to our brilliant and dynamic team."
