Spotlight on the Growth Company’s Employment, Justice, and Health Support in Yorkshire

It’s the 1st of August, so you know what that means: It’s Yorkshire Day!

What’s more, today’s festivities mark forty years since local authorities first agreed to officially celebrate the historic county’s distinct culture, heritage, and landscape.

While the Growth Company was born in Greater Manchester, we embraced Yorkshire as one of our homes more than a decade ago. In fact, we have more staff in the ridings than in any other region. Our local teams currently provide employment, justice, and health support to thousands of people across the area, from Hull and Leeds to Huddersfield and Sheffield.

We help people in South Yorkshire overcome barriers to work through the Restart Scheme on behalf of Maximus UK. We also offer tailored job, health, and skills support to people in Sheffield as part of the city council’s Pathways to Work trailblazer, which aims to tackle high rates of economic inactivity and boost employment prospects.

In the justice system, we work in eight prisons in Yorkshire and the Humber. Our Finance, Benefit, and Debt (FBD) service aims to improve people’s financial literacy and, ultimately, cut reoffending. Personal Wellbeing Services, meanwhile, work at community venues with people on probation to build resilience, confidence, and positive self-image. In addition, we deliver the Creating Future Opportunities (CFO) Evolution programme in prisons and via community activity hubs with a view to reinforcing the value of leading law-abiding lives.

We assist refugees in the UK through our specialist support services, too, including through the award-winning United For Ukraine initiative.
